How to Resign From a Toxic Job
You can leave a toxic workplace without turning your resignation letter into evidence against you. Keep the written notice short; document serious issues separately.
Keep the letter boring on purpose
State resignation, last day, optional brief thanks, and a handover offer. Do not list grievances in the letter—that file follows you.
Protect yourself
Save copies of your notice, key emails, and pay records. If harassment or safety is involved, ask HR or a qualified professional about formal reporting paths.
Exit day tactics
Limit emotional conversations, return property with a checklist, and update passwords on personal accounts you used at work.
