Handing In a Resignation (Practical Steps)
“Handing in” resignation means delivering a clear written notice—usually after a short conversation with your manager—so dates and expectations are not fuzzy.
Preferred sequence
1) Check notice rules. 2) Pick a calendar last day. 3) Tell your manager. 4) Send the letter or email the same day. 5) Keep a copy and plan the handoff.
In person, video, or email?
Live conversation first is kinder when safe and possible. Email alone is still valid and creates a record—especially for remote or urgent exits.
After you hand it in
Ask what to prioritize, confirm systems access end dates, and stay professional through your last day even if emotions run high.
